ADHD in Early Childhood Education

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder which affects nearly 10% of the childhood population, creating a major impact on their educational growth.
In the early childhood classroom, teachers are observing a variety of symptoms which are related to ADHD, but studies show that due to their limited understanding of ADHD, teachers have become either unwilling or unable to recognize ADHD behaviors, and therefore cannot refer students for the support which they may need.
As educators recognize the limited knowledge of ADHD in the classroom setting, steps must be taken to lead to an increase understanding of ADHD in order to help students best function within the classroom setting.
