3D Modelling Software Add-ons for Expedited Design Work in Blender
Kurt Lui
Faculty: Michelle Sammon and Nick LeJeune
This project consists of various published software add-ons and accompanying 3D assets that the presenter has made for the program Blender, allowing even basic users to turn weeks’ worth of 3D sci-fi design into a day’s work or less.
The project is part of a greater long-term dedication to speed up and increase the quality of 3D graphic and game design work in the professional world, in order to match the expected pace of which the ever-changing industry keeps speeding up.
The add-ons are created using Blender’s visual coding system known as “geometry nodes”, and the resulting “node trees” are made to be integrated by the user alongside the assets into Blender on their computer, and accessed in their projects to be used to assist and speed up their own work.
Both paid and free versions of each are also available, allowing users across a diverse spectrum of financial backgrounds to have access to them as tools in their design processes.
