The project explores the management of the Great Barrier Reef by comparing two long-term management plans.
The two plans that were examined in this project are Keeping It Great: A 25 Year Strategic Plan For The Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area 1994-2019 that was published in 1994 and Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan that was published in 2015.
By using the disciplines of history, sociology, and biology to examine this complex problem, the hope is to understand how the management of the Great Barrier Reef has changed over time as well as what this can teach us about the future management.
